What is it?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove stubborn fatty deposits. It is not a weight loss tool. Instead, it is best used to reduce and sculpt bulges that are resistant to diet and exercise. The best candidates are patients who are in good shape with tight elastic skin, no stretch marks, and no hanging skin.
Traditional tumescent liposuction remains the gold standard in surgical fat removal. Many companies have heavily marketed and branded devices designed to compete with traditional liposuction. Currently, there are no high quality studies that definitively show the results of these devices as being any superior than traditional liposuction. As the swelling decreases, the skin also retracts.

Patients are encouraged to massage the treated area. Exercise after liposuction is allowed after a few weeks.
” I had liposuction preformed about 4.5 years ago. She did a awesome job and came in on a Saturday to personally remove the foam compression on my thighs and abdomen. I’ve had other cosmetic procedures by other docs and never had any of them personally remove stitches or anything related to post-op other than to pop their heads in and say hi.”
