Liposuction Fort Myers FL

What is it?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove stubborn fatty deposits. It is not a weight loss tool. Instead, it is best used to reduce and sculpt bulges that are resistant to diet and exercise. The best candidates are patients who are in good shape with tight elastic skin, no stretch marks, and no hanging skin.

Traditional Liposuction remains the gold standard in surgical fat removal. Many companies have heavily marketed and branded devices designed to compete with the traditional liposuction procedure. Currently, there are no high quality studies that definitively show the results of these devices as being any superior than the liposuction procedure. As the swelling decreases, the skin also retracts.

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Farahmand’s Fort Myers patients often seek liposuction of the neck, abdomen, hips, thighs, back, and arms. Also, patients can request that the fat that is removed

Procedure

The Consult
The most important part of the Liposuction consultation is the physical exam. Female board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand will examine your skin to see if you are a good candidate for liposuction. Because good skin elasticity is critical in achieving a smooth result, Dr. Farahmand may suggest other procedures to you if she feels your skin type would not yield a smooth result. She will also review your medical history and design a customized surgical plan for you as well as answer all your questions. You will be provided with a written quote and the staff will help you with any financing questions you may have.

The Pre-op Appointment
At this visit, Dr. Farahmand will review the surgical plan with you again. Vital signs and body weight will be measured. Photos will be taken. Most importantly, you will be explained in detail all of your pre-op and post-op instructions by Dr. Farahmand in Fort Myers.

The Surgery
On surgery day, you will have an opportunity to meet the Anesthesiologist. Once in the operating room, a few small incisions are made to fit the liposuction cannula. Tumescent solution, which is a mixture of numbing medicine, epinephrine, and saline is injected into the tissues to decrease blood loss and increase comfort post-operatively. We give the tumescent solution time to “set up”, then Dr. Farahmand liposuctions the area until the desired result is obtained. The incisions are closed with absorbable sutures and a compression garment is applied.

Liposuction Techniques

Abdominal Etching

liposuction surgeryAbdominal etching works to accentuate existing muscle tone, and reduces excess fat to sculpt out abs. This type of technique is a variation of traditional tumescent liposuction to sculpt the tissues of the abdomen. With abdominal etching your stomach can appear tighter, firmer, and more muscular. Those wishing to undergo abdominal etching should understand that you must be close to your ideal body weight to be considered a candidate. After having abdominal etching it is important to maintain a healthy diet, and exercise. Come to Fort Myers FL for a consultation.

Liposuction 360

For many who want to get rid of stubborn fat, “360 degree liposculpture” is a technique in body contouring that takes liposuction to the next level. This technique is a more comprehensive procedure that combines liposuction of the entire midsection to create a more contoured figure from every angle.

Recovery

The recovery after liposuction can be different for each patient. All patients are encouraged to walk after the surgery and to wear their compression wear for 3 weeks. They are allowed to shower after 24 hours and they are allowed to wash their compression clothing. Most patients return to work after a few days when they are off of pain medications. Patients are encouraged to massage the treated area. Exercise after liposuction is allowed after a few weeks.

Success
Story

” I had liposuction preformed about 4.5 years ago. She did a awesome job and came in on a Saturday to personally remove the foam compression on my thighs and abdomen. I’ve had other cosmetic procedures by other docs and never had any of them personally remove stitches or anything related to post-op other than to pop their heads in and say hi.”
