What is it?

Considering a facelift in Fort Myers FL? Contact Audrey Farahmand, female board certified plastic surgeon. As we age, several processes occur. The deeper facial tissue descends and facial fat redistributes causing jowls around the mouth and deep folds around the mouth. Also, the skin loses its elasticity producing wrinkles and loose skin around the neck.

The facelift procedure addresses both of these problems. Older methods of facelifting produced a “tight” or “pulled” look. Now, newer methods of facelifting avoid the “tight” or “pulled” look by lifting the deeper membrane of the muscle and repositioning it to a more youthful position. This takes tension off of the skin and produces a far more natural looking result and a more long lasting result. For a facelift in Fort Myers call today.

During the plastic surgery procedure, incisions usually begin in the temples hidden behind the hairline, extending into a natural line just inside the cartilage of the ear, and continue behind the earlobe to the lower scalp. If the neck needs work, a small incision may also be made under the chin. In general, skin is separated from the fat and muscle below. Fat may be trimmed or suctioned from around the neck and chin to improve the contour. The underlying muscle and membrane is tightened. The skin is pulled back and excess skin is removed. The neck is also lifted in this process so that the face and neck are rejuvenated as one unit to, again, produce a natural appearing result. Stitches secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions. Swelling and bruising after the procedure is normal.

Procedure: Facelift, browlift, lower lid blepharoplasty

The Consultation
Fort Myers plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand will interview you to find out what your plastic surgery goals are to determine if you are a good candidate for facelift surgery or if you would be best suited for less invasive procedures. She will examine your skin’s condition and elasticity as well as your entire face to suggest an individualized treatment plan for you based on your goals. She will review your medical history and medications and communicate to you a pre-operative plan as well. You will be given a written quote which explains the cost of the procedure and you will be offered help with plastic surgery financing if needed. Once you decide on a surgical date for a facial rejuvenation procedure, a pre-operative appointment with Fort Myers plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand will be scheduled. Smokers will be required to discontinue all forms of nicotine for 2 full months before their surgery and after cosmetic surgery.

The Pre-Operative Appointment
At this visit, Dr. Farahmand will go over all of your instructions for before plastic surgery and after surgery with you and answer any questions you have about the procedure. She will also review with you the placement of the incisions. And she will tell you which medications to avoid before and after facelift surgery. At this visit in Fort Myers FL, your photos will be taken, your weight, blood pressure, and heart rate will be taken. Even though you will be receiving instructions in writing, it is suggested that you bring the individual who will be taking care of you to this visit as it is important that they be familiar with these instructions as well.

The Surgery
The facelift/necklift is performed as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia and sedation. First the patient will be interviewed by the anesthesia team. The patient’s family can sit with them during this process and when Fort Myers plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand talks to the patient before cosmetic surgery. The facelift surgery time ranges from around 2-4 hours depending on the extent of the facelift surgery. The patient will spend about an hour in the recovery room where the recovery room nurses will go over the post-operative instructions again with the patient and their caregiver before discharge.

Patients recover at home and have their dressings and drains removed in our office after two days. They are then allowed to shower and wash their hair. Sutures are removed around one week post-operatively. Then patients are allowed to wear makeup. Swelling can take several weeks to subside.

“Dr. Farahmand,
Where do I begin to sing the praises of Dr. Farahmand and her staff. I had my facelift in Fort Myers, consisted of six different facial rejuvenation procedures, meaning six different incisions on my face and head and none of them are visible! I experienced no bruising and absolutely no pain (which was one of my major concerns). I interviewed four different board certified plastic surgeons before making a decision and Dr. Farahmand was the only doctor who explained exactly what she was going to do, where she was going to cut and what the recovery would be. Additionally, each of the four doctors said their patient care coordinator would follow up with me but none of them did except for yours. She did follow up with me. She asked me about my fears and then she arranged for me to talk with other patients who had similar procedures to quiet my fears. When I hesitated she assured me I would be “beautiful” for my scheduled trip to LA only four weeks later and she was right. None of my family could believe I had just had a facelift but everyone thought I looked terrific and much younger.
To say I am satisfied with the results of my facelift is a great understatement; I am delighted with the results! I sing the praises of Dr. Farahmand located in Fort Myers and would highly recommend her to anyone thinking about facial plastic surgery.”
— Sincerely, Miss J.
