Rhinoplasty Fort Myers FL

rhinoplasty surgery

What is it?

Rhinoplasty, otherwise known as nose job or nose surgery, is a surgical procedure which is designed to shape the nose in a more proportioned and aesthetically pleasing shape. Common reasons for Ft Myers patients to consult with female plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand for rhinoplasty is for treatment of a large hump, large or bulbous tip, large nostrils, wide nose, or crooked nose.

Procedure

The Consultation
During the cosmetic surgery consultation, female plastic surgeon Dr. Farahmand will examine your nose both internally with a speculum and externally and make a list of problems to be improved. Then, she will ask you what you think of the list. Most often, the problems that Dr. Farahmand lists to the patient are precisely what the patient felt needed improvement. After reviewing your medical history, Dr. Farahmand provides you with a customized surgical plan. You will be given a written quote for the surgery and the staff can help you with any questions you may have about financing or other facial features.

The Pre-op appointment
At this appointment your photographs and vital signs will be taken. Dr. Farahmand will sit down with you and review in detail all of your pre-op and post-op instructions. You will be able to ask any questions about the procedure.

The Surgery
Rhinoplasty is performed as an outpatient surgery. On surgery day, you will be able to meet the Anesthesiologist before the surgery. Once in the operating room, an incision is made in the columella and inside the nostrils. If the tip is to be made smaller, sometimes cartilage is trimmed and sutures are used to reshape the tip cartilages. If the hump is to be reduced, the bone and some of the cartilage is removed with a special instrument until the desired shape is achieved. Often, when this maneuver is performed for a rhinoplasty procedure, the nasal sidewalls also need to be brought in to prevent an “open roof” . The use of intranasal packing and external casts is individualized for each patient based on what maneuvers are being performed.
